Solange took to her go-to social media platform to tell her followers all about the process of creating her When I Get Home album in 2019. As it turns out, it was not easy at all!
The star opened up about having health problems at the time, and also having a spiritual experience!
It was a whole journey and she wrote about it in detail on her Instagram account.
Solange, therefore, got candid about her hospitalization right when she was dropping the album. ‘2 year anniversary of the project which literally changed my life. When I started creating ‘When I Get Home’ I was literally fighting for my life…in and out of many hospitals with depleting health and broken spirit asking God to send me a sign I that would not only survive, but that if he let me make it, I’d step into the light whatever that meant. He began speaking to me. Half of the time I did not know where it was coming from. I just knew that I had to open the door and honor it,’ she recalls.
She went on to share that ‘I did not see naann a thing I imagined. I did not know who I was speaking to on I am a witness. When I listen to it back, I hear a woman who’d only an inkling of what the journey entailed, but did not have a clue of why or what that journey would look like.’
Apparently, during that time, she ‘opened a door’ and she promised to tell more about that at some point.
All in all, working on that album was definitely a healing and learning experience for Solange and she made that very clear.

A post shared by @saintrecords ‘The stories of my past I have survived that I’d stored all up in my body…. till it said…. no more. The re learning. The reckoning. This album led me to all of that.’
Finally, she concluded her letter by showing gratitude towards her many fans for giving her time and space. Source
